Another write up about my emo kids deck which has taken out 3/6 store champs. The results are as follows (store champs from Brisbane Australia):

GUF (approximately 27 players): Top 8 finish, lost in the quarters to 2FO 2 Guavian after going 4-1 in the swiss. Finals ended up being taken out by Poe Maz.

The Magic Vault (32 players): 1st place. This was the biggest SC held in Brisbane with 5 rounds of swiss followed by a cut to top 4 , I hated this as that meant there were x-1 players who wouldnt make the cut, that just sucks. I ended up going 5-0 in the swiss and 2-0 through both finals to take it. I played against the following: Poe Maz, Chewie Rey, tripple DT, Palp, Aura Jango. Finals was FUnkar followed by a rematch of Aura Jango. This is one of my 2 local stores so it felt good taking this one out and got me my first playmat and plaque.

Good Games Gold Coast (17 players): top 8 finish, low turnout so I felt good after going 2-0. I then proceeded to lose the mirror match twice to cap off a disappointing long drive down. TO was super awesome though and threw his TO copies into the pool which was awesome. The event was won by 2 FO 2 Guavian (guy I lost to in the GUF quarters) and was stoked to see a 4 character deck do well in a big poe maz meta.

Ace Annerly (Approximatley 27ish players): 1st place. Another solid turnout for a popular store. Ended up in 4th place after 5 rounds facing a few poe maz and a couple of other decks to a top 8 cut. Quarter finals I played against palp and got quite lucky rolling a throw special off a holocron activation to remove his 3 damage dice. That 8hp swing proved the and I was off to the semi finals. faced off against another 4 character deck and saw it through. Face off against the winner of the GG Gold Coast SC so we had a rivalry brewing. The grand final was Bo2 and luckily he saw his salvage stands too late and I was able to take it 2-0 for my second plaque.

Good Games Upper Mount Gravatt (20 players): 1st place. With 2 SC taking place over this weekend attendance was always going to be an issue. went 4-1 in swiss playing the regular assortment of poe maz and other decks to make it. quarters I faced off against Han Rey and narrowly took it down. Semis was GG Gold Coast winner and I was able to take him down in a much closer game. Finals was against Palp and was summed up by me being lucky and seeing my removal early. 3rd plaque down and feeling super confident with the deck now.

Good Games Spring Hill (20 players): top 4. Another good turnout at my other regular store with a few new faces along for the comp. Went 5-0 in the swiss seeing off 2 vader guard (where have these been) and a few other decks. Beating out Poe Rey in top 8 but losing again to the GGGC champ 4 colour deck. The finals was the won by epalpatine.

Good Games Ipswich (22 players): 1st place. Last SC for our region and I was sick as a dog, made the trip out there anyway. The store wanted this comp done quickly so it was 4 rounds cunt to top 4 single elim. beat 2 Poe/Maz to start followed by a win again FUnkar and ePalp in the finals. Semifinal I am paired up against the ePalp player and only narrowly win thanks to a small misplay on his part with him not playing no mercy when he should have. Finals was against rainbow 9's (e bala, ns and FN), despite my poor choice in target order I was able to take it down.

Taking down 4/7 SC with this deck has been great. I feel it is not only the best deck in the meta but the most consistent. If I had to take it to Nats tomorrow I would in a hearbeat, unfortunatley nats will be played 3 weeks after EaW comes out in Australia so I'm expecting a big meta shift. Below I will detail all of my card choices for the deck followed by a detailed breakdown of match ups.

The core of the deck based on SoR meta:

2x Sith Holocron: The reason this deck can be so fast. Nothing better than a turn 1 probe or lightning to speed games up. Any emo kids list that drops holocron is wrong in my opinion as it just allows for so much temp and resource management in this deck.

2x Force Throw: My favorite upgrade to have in the deck especially with throne room as our BF, can catch a lot of players off guard. This card forces such restrictive plays with their dice and one high roll can spell trouble for them

2x Force Speed: I wasn't sold on this card for this deck but a few days are SoR came out I was, a free dice on Kylo that allows you to roll in vader and resolve his best dice straight away is amazing. It's not about going fast with speed it's about denying your opponent the chance to play removal on our dice that matters here.

2x Deflect: removal that deals damage? sign me up for 2. A serious house against ePalp, Poe/Maz and even in the mirror when vader doesnt roll well.

2x Isolation: Key character removal against ePalp and Poe/Maz.

2x Trust your instincts: Digging a card deeper after rerolling a holocron is nice especially if you have no upgrades in hand.

2x Force Illusion: Great for the deck in stalling out the clock. While it does chew through your deck quickly our dice are just as fast and buys us that time we need when we get blitzed by RNG in some rounds.

Crucial to the deck based on the current meta but are flexible:

1x Force Lighting 2x Mind Probe 2x Force Push: Putting these 5 together as they are the best blue ability upgrades we can get at the moment and will be replaced in a heartbeat as soon as better upgrades are printed. Probe would normally be the prime candidate to stay but with so much action cheating players can empty their hands so quickly in most games.

1x Vibroknife: This may be the biggest shock in the list coming in at only 1 copy but I feel it's only worth having 1 copy here. You never want to play it turn 1 unless you have enrage or more resources. It doesn't combo with no mercy. It gets bounced by imperial inspection. It isn't blue. You have 4 melee damage sides and 3 damage sides that are not melee.

2x Enrage: Getting that resource at a clutch time is important it turns on kylos 2 or vaders 3 when the opponent thought the coast was clear. It does come at a steep cost though of 1 damage.

2x Feel your anger: don't get be wrong this is a great card with amazing blowout potential but removal relying on RNG factor to even work isn't amazing. I aim to replace this card with another removal card the moment it is printed.

1x No Mercy: This card can be an absolute blowout either way. It's good when it's good but bad when it's bad. a lot of the time I have found myself starting at no mercy and a 2/3 damage side with a resource cost.

Flex Slots (hoping to replace with EaW):

1x Meditate: As amazing as the card is I find it a bit awkward to use. Opponents will often wait for you to line up a meditate special and then just simply remove it.

1x Lightsaber Throw: I have it as a quick bit of surprise damage but the resource cost is a killer in a very resource greedy deck.

1x Power of the force: Personally I love this card but I can only see the game getting faster as the meta moves on and our card pool increases. Too cute to realistically survive in this deck unfortunately. Being able to resolve a kylo dice for 6 once was good enough for me.

1x Overconfidence 1xManipulate: soft/awkward removal that I'm hoping to upgrade with EaW. It's in there to help with the palp matchup.

MATCH UPS Before I begin writing this I thought I would always mention to dig for a holocron in EVERY match up, the tempo it brings is far too great.

Poe/Maz Mulligan for speeds/removal here. I know it seems dumb with hit and run not allowing us to interact but often times after rolling maz they will have 1 poe dice left that you can remove (no matter what face given they will likely have throne room). Be aware that there are a lot of lists running sensor placement so speed is crucial to help with the vader dice. Don't be afraid to claim early if you know it will screw them out of a key position and potentially blank some of their cards. As they also run cunning, kill maz first and mitigate poe afterwards.

ePalp Find removal here, even feel you anger is crucial here. Winning against palp is as simple as removing their dice and slowly chipping them down. Even through rise again, mitigation can be such a pain for them. Deflect is a 7 point swing here that helps put it in our favour. Always be aware of the no mercy and place force illusion when you can as the game won't last long usually. I often find myself claiming their BF as well as it just hurts too much to give them the shields.

Poe/Rey Always be aware of mind probe on Rey and understand there is going to be a lot of action stacking making your removal slightly worse. I usually target down Poe first and it becomes a little easier. It lacks serious punch in comparison to the Poe Maz build and can often lose to bad hands far more so than Poe/Maz.

Mirror Match Time for a race. Look for holocrons and speeds to try and get that advantage. They are going to try and do the same. be careful of holding high cost upgrades as well as Kylo can be a killer if he gets lucky. always deflect vaders 1 when you get a chance unless there is a lightning out.

Han/Rey with so many shields and second chance it can be tough but I still go for Han first as his dice are a big concern. look for those deflects and understand they are going to do broken things with Rey that you can't stop. Rey having some bad dice here makes the matchup a little better if you are able to burst down Han quick enough.

FUnkar Try and find those force speeds, you have to kill FN quickly here and speed is the way to do it. Prioritise Kylo special here as well as it plays a large part in shooting down FN flipping a lot of "3" value weapons. I personally then like to go for the trooper next followed up by Unkar. I find this matchup comes down to if they can land their 2 salvage stand early enough as it is a big pain to our plan being such a resource heavy deck.

Rainbow 9's Since it's break out at NA champs I have only come across 1 list and I found the deck to be fragile. Discarding their hard is actually crucial here, I wouldn't use vaders discard unless I knew I was going to hit their boundless ambition (maybe 50/50 would also be acceptable). I still target FN first then go for Bala unless I can burst him in 1-2 turns. If they get some early damage off as well Bala may be target 1 as well. the NS re roll on our dice isn't as brutal as Vader has so many good sides. while speed is nice, I feel it is not as crucial as they are very light on removal in this version.

Rainbow Phasma Deflect is clutch here along with force illusion. Manage down their damage dealers with a force illusion on can block 2-3 of their dice at a time due to the modifiers. Try to get a speed as well to race out their guardian.

Vader Guard As nice as this deck looks on paper it can have some horrible RNG issues with card draw as the card pool is still quite low. Always go for vader first especially if you get a speed. be wary of removal and ALWAYS count the no mercy kill here.

Vader Raider Despite taking a hit with the fast hands errata it is still incredibly powerful. find those speeds and removal is going to be everywhere in their deck. Go for Vader first unless tusken gets an early mindprobe or strong upgrade. don't be afraid to use those deflects aggressively on that tusken die as well.

Biggest concerns going into EaW: Will this deck have the legs to compete in the EaW meta? I still don't know. 22 health is quite low and with more vehicle decks coming I still feel it can match pace with explosive vehicle draws. If Poe gets an errata though expect more 3-4 character decks to be running around which spells bad news for the twins. Even if FN gets an errata to "first time per turn" or something along those lines I still think it will be a threat as well with its potential burst damage and insane turns. As far as new cards for the deck I can't see a lot for now, hopefully the future spoilers bring more for this deck to keep it viable in the future meta which is surely to be support heavy.
