This is a deck I piloted to a mediocre 2-3 record at the Raleigh prime tournament on 2/22/2020. Iden Versio - Inferno Squad Commander is one of my favorite Star Wars characters and I've wanted to put her in a competitive deck since the release of Across the Galaxy. Her ability to stop action cheating paired with the ability of Tobias Beckett - Thief For Hire to disrupt your opponents resources can be a powerful combo!

The idea here is that your characters are rolling threatening dice that are enhanced by your event suite. Using Tactical Mastery or Seize the Day to activate one of your characters plus two Conscript Squad gives you the option to resolve without your opponent having a chance to mitigate, or you can drop a Focused Fire and really deal some pain.

Ideally, you want to mulligan for at least one Conscript Squad, Counterintelligence, Measure for Measure, and upgrades in your opening hand. It can be a good idea to hang onto a Megablaster Troopers, but their inconsistency makes getting them out round 1 a bit of a risky proposition.

Improvised Defense and Vigilance are there as tech against die-turning decks and have been ridiculously effective against Reylo and Palp. Separatist Embargo played against Execute Order 66 has turned the tables in my favor in more than a few matches. Mitigation and tech cards are all about slowing your opponent down just enough while Iden and Beckett, supported by Conscripts and Megas, roll more two ranged sides than your opponents can handle.

I'm still proud of this deck, even in spite of its mediocre showing at the Raleigh Prime. Turns out, I didn't play against any of the meta decks; the ones I'd spent the most time practicing against. My three losses came from eJango / eQi-Ra, eKylo / ePhasma, and another eIden deck I don't fully remember. In spite of my performance, I had a blast and fully enjoyed my matchups (and losses) against non-meta competition!

Time to see how Iden can be used with the new tools in Covert Missions!
