I made this deck on the drive up to what turned out to be a 37 player event held at Highlander Games on Saturday 4/4. The event was ran with 6 rounds of Swiss and then a cut to a Double Elimination Top 8.

The inspiration for this deck was a play on the Han/Rey deck both myself and my friend Tommy have been tweaking and trying out. I used that Han/Rey deck to win a 16 person event Wednesday so I wanted to try something else. All of my opponents were awesome however I am not good with names so my apologies.

Rd 1 vs eLeia/eAckbar

Red hero doesn't do much in the way of dice removal and this pairing doesn't have much health. However it is an upgrade or 2 from some very nasty It''s a Trap plays which are very scary as Poe can hang a damage die with his 3/1R.

My opponent was able to hit me with an It''s a Trap for 7 turn 2 and did manage to take down Poe prior to me catching Leia. However a mildly armed Ackbar is no match for a fully Force Power and Lightsaber welding Rey.

Rd 2 vs eJabba/eDooku

The one card I don't own is Jabba. As a result he scares me. Thus I threw all my damage at him and slowly dealt with Dooku after that. My opponent milled be quite relentlessly but I did see a lot of my damage so I won the race.

Rd 3 vs eBala/Trooper/Jango.

I've played against variations of this deck but never this particular character layout. But it's obviously been getting a lot of press so I've heard a lot about it.

Bala is obviously the big danger, but the Trooper seems to enable more then a few potent defenses and Tactical Mastery. What I've heard is he seems to be often ignored in favor of the characters with abilities. I opted to target him first to turn a number of cards dead.

I was able to take out the Trooper bottom of Turn 1 and Bala prior to him getting a kill on me. However, on the same turn my opponent was able to finish of Poe with a string of rerolls into a 7 damage shot from lone Jango.

I did not want Rey to 1 on 1 with an undamaged Jango. I did have a Holdout Blaster + Force Misdirection combo to try and steal a free turn, but I couldn't roll anything of use for either damage or Force Misdirection. Thankfully my opponent rolled similarly poor and was only able to mildly punish me while I was able to put more damage on Jango then he on me. However that did mean I was rolling into possible Jango kill roll next turn, but he missed his shot and I hit mine.

Rd 4 eLuke/Ackbar

This is my favorite deck to play and is one I've probably used the most. I opted to target Luke first as I felt I had the burst damage to bring him down and avoid the Leadership. Thankfully Rey's Discard side took one of those Leaderships. I ended up killing Luke with a second action Throne Room claim to Poe Mind Probe'd him for 6 due to Luke's ability. Ackbar fell shortly after.

Rd 5 eHan/eRey

This was against my friend Tommy so I knew his deck fully. I opted to race for Han as I again I have burst to catch him before he can shield up or Second Chance. I was able to catch him decently early, but no before Poe died. Missing on a Hit and Run with Mind Probe in my hand while Han was sitting a 5 health hurt.

I did however claw back as once Han went down and it became Rey on Rey my Rey was better equipped this his. Going into our last turn both of our deck are empty and each Rey is on one health, though mine has 2 shields. I have a Holdout Blaster and Willpower, but he has first action. He stacks up some actions with Ambush upgrades and takes me out with his roll and resolve before I could do him in.

Rd 6: Bala/Trooper x2/NightsOster

My opponent saw no dice mitigation this game and I mulched down the line going Bala, Sister, Trooper, Trooper. By the time he drew anything to remove my dice the character he needed to spot with it was gone. His deck really gave him no plays against mine and I was able to hit a complete dice wipe with Dodge as well.

So I finished 5-1 earning me the 2nd Seed. My Rd 6 opponent finished in 7th meaning he became my first Top Cut match.

Top Cut Rd 1: Bala/Trooperx2/Nightsister.

That mitigation he didn't see a game earlier, he saw it. Along with more damage. He took out Rey decently early though luckily I was able to overwrite her Force Powers with upgrades that would stay after her death. Some hot rolls with OWTF but me back in the game. A round ended with both Poe and his last Trooper on 1 health. I had a Willpower in hand but no resources. He had first action and dug for a Tactical Mastery to kill me missed, but found a Backup Muscle. I had 7 cards left in deck and kept only the Willpower to dig for Hit and Runor Field Medic. I saw neither and again lost my a damage.

Rd 2. eDooku/Grevious

You know what Dooku doesn't like? Being hit for 5 from Mind Probe when he's on 4 health. My opponent dumped her whole hand trying to get a multiple saber twirling Grevious to get any damage facings only to have a strong roll Misdirection'd away off of a +2M Rey dice. Really brutal stuff.

Rd 3. Vader/Raider

I got really greedy early this game and allowed my opponent to Force Strike me for 3 when I could have removed his resource, Poe took 9 turn 1. It was a really dumb play that would have lost me the game if it wasn't for another 5 damage Mind Probe from Poe followed by a Hit and Run into Willpower the next turn to end Vader. I should have seen it coming as my opponent didn't play upgrades or remove my dice Turn 1, but it didn't cost me the game.

Rd 4 eKylo/Vader

This was my buddy Joe and this game swung alot. He came out hard then faded. I followed up strong then also faded. I saw jus enough healing to keep Poe up past his Vader, but his Kylo was shielded and kitted out. A strong Anticipate play knocked a turn off of him, though he killed Poe with his Kylo special. That turn gave me the advantage and Rey finished him off.

Rd 5. Ackbar/eLuke.

Same opponent from Rd 4. Same result. He took a resource using a Luke die Turn 1 prior to activating Ackbar which I pegged for Leadership, thus I saved a +2M facing from Rey for Misdirection which saved me 4 damage. Again I killed Luke with an early claim Mind Probe from Poe.

Rd 6. Finals Bala/Trooperx2/Nightsister

He saw mitigation this time as well, but so did I. Multiple Force Trainings on Rey meant I had the ability to turn my Misdirections into Dodges, which I did. This allowed me to kill while turns from him and pick up the W.

Rather then play another game we decides to split the prizing down the middle as we were now on even footing and I had 3 people waiting on me and an almost 2 hour drive ahead.

Not bad for making it up in the car.

Thanks for sharing! As a bit of feedback, I would definitely like to see more card links in the report. I don't have every die and power memorized, so being able to hover and see the card come up is so helpful when reading long reports like this, versus switching to another page.

'I did have a Holdout Blaster + Force Misdirection combo to try and steal a free turn'

Force misdirection only works on blue dice.

Ive been tuning my Bala/2xTrooper/Nightsister deck for awhile and I'm wondering if you've got the card list for the one you played. I wonder if it was mine or a different build.

Really surprised there is no Defensive Position in the list. Any reason in particular it was not included?

ScottExPA 256

@mrmatthew I'll keep that in mind in the future. Ironically it was the length of it that kept me from going back and adding the tags.

ScottExPA 256

@HisDudeness I know. The Holdout Blaster is only generating the action economy that gives you a chance to mitigate Jango's roll, the Force Powers provide the possible range icons needed.

ScottExPA 256

@petejohnwilson I didn't know exactly at what pace the deck would play at so I opted to not play any events that required me to control the battlefield. I went with the safer options due to lack of testing.

but with playing it now, would you use Defensive Position? How did Defensive Stance do for you? I play a similar Deck and I found that the Defensive Positions were always dead draws to me, I ended up removing them for one Defensive Position and one Dug In.

I've been loving this deck as well. It deals so much damage. Plays smooth.

I agree with you 100% about playing against EBala. I usually start by turning off the red that the deck has, unless somehow I'm able to resolve a nasty hit on either Jango or Bala. The deck is usually about those big play stoppers like Cannon Fodder and The Best Defense... which allow the deck to get out ahead. Taking those out of play early, or lessening their effect, has led me to success against it as well. You have to realize that the damage will go to the First Order Stormtrooper whether you like it or not, usually.

Congrats on the event.

ScottExPA 256

@BigDaddyGoblyn Defensive Stance is essentially the safe Dug in. Without Riposte it is just weaker then Field Medic. But it's two extra health which can matter especially with things Willpower and Field Medic available.

BigDaddyGoblyn 301

Interesting. Thanks, I think I am going to run it this weekend.

I'm really keen to get ePoe/eRey working. I'm always tempted to include more heavy hitting cards like launch bay to benefit from Poe. Do you find that investing in his special too strongly limits your deck? Also I really want to replace light saber for DH-17's. Thoughts?

guess i just played against you on tabletop, and the game ends with that great roll of yours with 5 damages with the Rogue and then a big reroll on Poe to kill my poor little ackbar !

nice deck, glad to see some vehicule played.

As i said, vehicules and characters around it, are going to be, soon or later a big stuff to deal with and against ! wich would be cool and fun imo !

nice little deck, glad i discovered it on TT this day

cheers from belgium

Does anyone have footage of a game involving Poe/Rey? I'd like to see how it plays.

ScottExPA 256

@Aorakis Wasn't me. Perhaps someone took the deck out for a spin. Or came up with the same thing on their own.

I was the eLuke/Ackbar guy. Scott was such a great opponent and had some GREAT plays. I was really inspired by his deck (been looking for a way to make Poe work and I never thought Rey!). It has similar surviveability and removal sharing colors (one of our more epic turns was Willpower> Willpower> Medic>Medic (then he claimed and LOL'd my Luke ). Super strong, super cool, and I cant wait to try it.

Scott - def interested in if you think eLuke/Ackbar can stand up to this deck. We were using the same battlefield and I feel thats a super strong part of your strat (though with 4 dice that wont be rare, and its certainly not the only option). Wish we had more time to play more games. I don't want to give up on Ackbar/Luke but I am so excited to get poe to the table now. Hope you make it down to highlander in March!!!

Had a blast playing a similar deck (-2x It Binds All Things -1x Force Misdirection +1 Use The Force +2 Defensive Position). Only lost to eLeia eAckbar due to missplay, I was supposed to delay Poe's activation on order to not get caught by It's a Trap! when my opponent had 6 red dices in the pool, but I wasn't paying attention that and ended up losing because of that =(. Still went 4-1 and 1st on Top4. Awesome deck.

@ScottExPA, a question, Do you usually try to put those 3+ costs early game or go for Poes special to discard it? I haven't played One With the Force yet
