Like many of you, I've been working on Vader since the release. I've always been on Bazine instead of Greedo because I like the extra 1 health for indirect damage and her dice gives me a little more flexibility on approach. I switched to running Prized Possession a few weeks ago and love what it brings to the deck. In the mirror, it's brutal to the opponent.
Match #1 Lando/Wedge - I played this deck at the Arizona Regional so I was sort of familiar with it. At least the concept of the deck. I pulled a Prized Possession turn 1 and removed a Lando die, this deflated his ability to get Planned Explosion off. The rest of this game might have been the worst game of my destiny life...both of us for that matter. Neither one of us rolled worth a damn and barely dealt damage for the first 4 or 5 turns. Finally the dice stuck and Vader did his thing. 1-0
Match #2 Vader/Greedo - Semi mirror match. A friend of mine from the local scene and we had been working on our Vader decks together for the last couple of weeks. He was looking good early in the game but I managed to pull two Rise Again to save myself and make the comeback. 2-0
Match #3 Yoda/Han - (Agent of Zion) This game was a pain to say the least. I yanked a Han die early with Prized Possession but it wasn't enough. This was the only game I lost with the deck. It's extremely difficult to beat this deck when your opponent starts with 2 force speeds and a gun. My dice started cold again so I couldn't take advantage of his limited dice pool at the start. Eventually I was facing a 3 gun Han and double speed Yoda with Illusion. I wasn't able to pull any Vader tricks because I knew he was sitting on Hyperspace Jump for 3 or 4 turns. He's got 3 in the deck and had them all at the right time. No Vader reset or Vader Fist equaled a loss. 2-1
Match #4 Beckett/Talzin - Another local, I think he intended to run Beckett/Ciena but he forgot his Ciena dice. I knocked Talzin out pretty quickly and was in control of the game the whole time. He made the choice to do his 7 damage into Bazine to prevent me from resetting, that backfired as she's got 8 health and I had Price of Failure in hand. Reset Vader and killed Talzin. 3-1
Match #5 Snoke/Ciena/Traitor - A round 1 Fear and Dead Men for 12 was pretty fantastic, and it was quickly followed up with 3 more into Ciena. I'm pretty sure I killed off Bazine to make sure Ciena died round 1. That hurt his ramp ability to get out Firespray with upgrades. I managed to pull off another Fear and Dead Men to finish the game off, killing the Traitor and putting Snoke to 1 health. Still having what I needed to finish him off after another turn. Also had a Vader's Fist out this game so it made it difficult for him to manage both Vader's Fist and Vader's dice.
Match #6 Vader/Greedo - Prized Possession a Vader die round 1. Got to play the mirror match with it's intended purpose of the deck. It's much easier to control a single Vader dice for the rest of game. Was pretty much smooth sailing after that. 5-1
A solid finish and no complaints. The deck performs the way you would expect it to. The Phoenix GQ (Premier Event) was run really well and we all had a great time.
